and discovered that now that they are in their 70s they are officially in that special group of super annoying old people who block the walkway in the mall by walking painfully slow, stopping abruptly with no consideration of those coming behind them and walk in the middle of mall traffic. Sigh..it was torture to be a part of it.
Even this clever Japanese idea wouldn't help the situation...my dad is too deaf to hear the bell!!
Welcome to my world...
ReplyDeleteWhen I brought it to my Mother's attention that they were blocking people trying to walk through, she replied "too bad."
ReplyDeleteYep, I can just picture it. And, driving with them is no fun either. My mom isn't 70 yet, but I don't like getting in the vehicle if she's driving.
ReplyDeleteWe're all going there...
ReplyDeleteYesterday I was grumbling about people pushing double strollers at the mall..... and yet I was guilty of that just a few years ago. And I probably would have said "too bad" if anyone complained. :S
Yes!! Mom rarely drives anymore but my Dad seems to think that turn signals and stop signs are meant for other people.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have mentioned it to her at all except that it was Dec 23 and you know what a mad house the mall is just before Christmas. All I said was "Mom if you're going to stop to talk let's move off to the side so other people can get through." I thought it was a reasonable thing to say.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.
ReplyDeleteI think it was appropriate to say, Melissa. My Mom while driving is just getting SO - hesitant - for lack of a better word. And, she'll do 20 in a 60 zone while she's busy talking away, gesturing like a mad woman to accentuate her talking, to me or whoever else is in the car. I try my best to not be the backseat driver and keep my mouth shut, but man oh man.
ReplyDeleteOne day we'll be the old woman with these same quirks...
