I have to check into it tomorrow. I think that through the collective agreement with my union I get to take a leave WITH pay. I certainly hope that is the case
I just knew when I got the notice of being on the jury roll that I would get called. Hopefully I won't get picked.
There are several high profile murder and violent crime cases coming to trial this year which is very unusual for our area.
I checked our collective agreement at work and I will get time off with pay! If jury duty is long enough to get jury pay (over 10 days) they reduce my pay by the amount that I would get from the province. At least I won't lose any pay which is a big relief.
Ugg.... what happens in a situation like that? Do you have to take unpaid leave or use up your vacation time? What a drag.
ReplyDeletei hope you have better luck than me. i always get chosen through the first couple rounds of dismissals.

I sat on one jury trial and that was enough for me.
ReplyDeleteI mean...I'm as civic minded as the next person....but the boredom almost killed me.
I was summoned to appear a couple of years ago, but wasn't selected. It wasn't a very interesting case anyway. Good luck!
