When setting my alarm clock last night, I accidently set the time one hour ahead. As a result I got up at 6am which was really 5 am. Unfortunately I didn't realize my mistake for over an hour.

  1. Oh, my. You haven't been around my blog for long, so I'll quickly recount this for you:
When I first joined the Navy, I was only seventeen, originally from Arizona, and had never spent any length of time outside of the state. If you're unaware, Arizona is the only state that doesn't do daylight savings time. I had never heard of it. I didn't know what it was at all. Well, I was in basic training in the fall, and lucky me, I had duty the night the clock needed to be set back. My orders were written down, "0200, turn back clock." You can imagine how confused I was. I must have stood there the entire time I was on duty trying to figure out what that meant. And in boot camp, I learned it was better to just do something wrong than it was to ask for clarification. Finally, near the end of my duty, I did the only thing I could think to do (please bear in mind I wasn't the smartest seventeen year old to ever walk the Earth). I carefully climbed up on a table, took down the clock, and ever-so-carefully rigged it so that the clock's face was facing the wall. Yes, I literally turned back the clock. I climbed back down, was relieved from duty by the next person, and GOOD GRIEF was I in trouble in the morning. My commander didn't believe me that in AZ we don't mess with the clock. At least until later. He came up to me after I was finished at basic training and told me that he'd looked it up later, and found out that I was indeed from Arizona, and that I was telling him the truth -- but he couldn't tell me that til the end of my training. Nice, huh?

So! At least your incident this morning was just an accident. :)
