"Sorry for the smell back here....we have just received a shipment of a whale and it is still decomposing."
<SNORT> I had a hard time keeping a straight face!!!!
O.k., my meeting was at Research Castings which is one of only a handful of companies in the world that make casts of dinosaur fossils. They happen to be local - in Trenton - just off Dufferin. If you get a chance to go to one of their open houses GO!! It is very, very cool!
I am reminded that I love my job after that meeting because.....I will be curating an exhibit on Dinosaurs at Glanmore early next year! w00t! Will try to post some pictures later...
Hahaha - that sounds almost like someone blaming the dog for somehting else... and wow, what a neat opportunity to be curating that! I wish I lived close enough to go.
ReplyDeletePosted some photos! I wish I could have taken more pictures of their workshop. It was awesome. I didn't know where to look first. You can't begin to imagine the random bits of dinosaurs piled up here and there!
ReplyDeleteOh! The pics are great! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! The workshop was very cool. Huge! With a giant apatasaurus in the centre and big pieces of fossils, latex moulds and works in progressall over the place. The back corner had huge shelves with inventory of moulds etc. If you had $45000 you could buy yourself a dinosaur cast from the American Museum of Natural History and put in in the yard! Except for the back corner which stank of whale the place smelled of latex and fibreglass.
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty darn hilarious! And fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI know Fred & I would love to see the exhibit. Look forward to more info. on it.
